Self-described as Detroit's most iconic mansion, The Whitney Restaurant is more than just a fine dining establishment-- it's a history lesson that simply can't be taught with a book. The luxurious decor is decidedly decadent, reminiscent of an era when quality was never sacrificed for quantity. The Whitney is a northern charmer with Victorian detail-- an ambiance that is rich and elaborate, and the food is no exception.
Located on the corner of Woodware Avenue and Canfield Street, The Whitney is the perfect place for a romantic dinner with loved ones or a business lunch with a client you'd really like to impress. Within walking distance of the Fox Theater, Detroit Institute of Art and Orchestra Hall, The Whitney is ideal for a post-excursion meal. Relax in the lap of luxury as you enjoy five-star cuisine and attentive service that is unparalleled.
Start your Whitney experience by enjoying a plate of grilled prawns with coconut basmati rice and shitake mushrooms, duck confit with wild rice griddle cake and spinach or flash-fried calamari with pickled peppers, tomatoes and herbs.
Entree selections include halibut with fresh linguine, chorizo, fennel, corn and lemon dill buerre blanc; filet with celeriac potato pancake, Swiss chard and port demi; sea scallops with cornbread, carrot puree and balsamic soy reduction; ribeye with buttermilk redskin mashers, bacon, asparagus and roasted garlic butter; and risotto with grilled asparagus, mushrooms, baby artichokes and parmesan cheese.
For dessert, try the peanut butter roulade: chocolate cake, peanut butter mousse, crushed peanuts and chocolate coulis; or the Detroit Opera, with layers of buttery almond cake, coffee buttercream and chocolate ganache.
